Beaches in St.Thomas

Sapphire Beach

Sapphire beach in St Thomas is located on the East side of the island and is about 30 minutes drive away from the cruise ship terminal of Havensight. At Sapphire beach in St Thomas they offer water sports rentals such as jet ski rental, kayak rental etc. they also have a nice outdoor barbecue restaurant called Banana cabana that served burgers and hot dogs. There is a small resort with a swimming pool that you can sometimes get access to which is nice. the beach is a little rocky and the waters are usually windy and have some waves.

Sapphire beach in St Thomas is a cool place to spend the day. it takes about 25 minutes to get to by bus and the ride is about $8 per person each way. They have jet skis to rent and food is available along with a bar to buy drinks. i really enjoyed Sapphire beach.

Coki Beach

Coki beach in St Thomas is a small cove beach located about 30 minutes from the cruise ship terminal. The beach doesn't have to many trees so finding shade is an issue but you can rent chairs and umbrellas. The beach is located right next to Coral World which is a huge aquarium park featuring above ground and underwater aquariums with live viewings of sharks and other sea life.

great place for the family to hang out. they have a water aquarium with sharks and all sorts of fish. Coki Beach in St Thomas is also where I got certified in scuba diving. They have a great instructor program and also offer snorkeling right off the beach. It is about a 20 minute drive form the cruise terminal in St Thomas.

Brewer's Bay

Brewers bay is more of a local beach then a tourist beach. a little far away from the cruise ship and not very developed. If you are looking for a place to get away form the crowds and try something local this might be for you. There isn't any bars or restaurants on the beach but along the roadside before you get there you can usually find some local restaurant to try some authentic Caribbean food.

We had such a good time at meagans bay. calm water and nice soft sand. cant wait to go back

Everyone knows thatMaegans bay in St Thomas is the most Popular beach to go to. But isit really. If you are inport with 3,4 or 5 other ships in the same day then i dont think it is. because the beach will have about 10,00 people on it and it wont feel that special. If you are lucky and you are the only ship inport or maybe just with 1 other than yes it is great.

Trunk Bay St. Johns

Trunk bay on the Island of St John is just about 30 minutes away form St Thomas. It is known for having white sand beaches and calm blue waters. It also has a snorkeling themed area where when you dive down you will see boards that have been out under the water to tell you about what you are seeing. This place is one of the best kept secrets around St Thomas.

one of the nicest laces I have ever been. Trunk Bay in St Thomas is so peaceful and private. There are not to many people there and the beach and water are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. If you have been to Meagan's Bay and done all the shopping you can handle then taking the ferry ride over to St Johns is a great way to enjoy your day in St Thomas.

When booking a cruise cabin selection is very important. Always click on the deck plan and look at where your room is going to be. A simple tip i always recommend is to try and have a cabin above you and below that way you will not have any noise to worry about. Try and be mid ship but it does depend on your needs, maybe you don't like to walk to much or you like to real close to the buffet or the casino. taking a good look at the deck plans can really help you pock a great room. and you will be surprised to see that some ships have a few rooms that are bigger and are the same price so another great way to make sure your getting want you want is to book early. Book early so you have the whole ship to choose your room and that way when you get there you wont be disappointed. On our site now you can browse cruises from all the different cruises lines and even book through our affiliate partner Cruise Direct. They are a trusted source for booking cruises and there website is very easy to use and has access to see all the deck plans really easy. If you have any questions about Cabins selection please let me know. If you are cruising with Carnival I know there ships very well so i can even share a few secret cabins with you.

This topic is up for discussion as cruise ships today are cruising to so many destinations around the world. But as most of us know the most visited destinations are in the Caribbean as they are the easiest to reach on 3-10 day cruises. So, what is the # 1 cruise Destination? #1 has to be St Thomas US Virgin Islands. St Thomas is the perfect island getaway. The ship will dock in either havensight Mall or Downtown St Thomas which means some of the best Duty Free shopping is at your feet. If shopping isn't your thing then maybe beaches are. St Thomas is known for having some of the best beaches in the world, most notably for Magens bay Beach. Magens bay is a beautiful beach with white sand and a calm flowing water that is just a great place to relax, take a swim and work on your tan. It does get crowded on days when there is more that one cruise ship in port but it is still worth the trip. Taking a Tour in St Thomas is also a great way to enjoy your day. With some may options to choose from. Take a sail & snorkel tour over to the island of St Johns or a Kayak through the Lagoons. You can do Sport Fishing in St Thomas or a scenic ride up to Paradise Point. Learn how to Scuba dive or get into a Snorkel boat and see what is under St Thomas. Another great option is staying in a resort. Many people that visit St Thomas on a cruise go back and spend a week or more in some of the Resorts that line the ocean front and mountain side of St Thomas. and of course don't forget all the incredible dinning options that are always available. You will find little quaint restaurants hidden in alley ways or Restaurants overlooking the marinas with ocean front views. All in All, St Thomas has something for everyone and is Probably the most visited island anywhere n the world by cruise Ship passengers.

St Thomas has got some great beaches. depending on how many ships are in port with you could have a big effect on the day though. Meagens bay is nice but gets crowded. Saphire bay is a little more secluded, Coki beach is good for snorkeling. whichever you choose should be fun.

Info on St.Thomas

St Thomas has green hills and white sand beaches, St. Thomas offers visitors picture-postcard views, as well as great shopping and world-class restaurants.  Perhaps that's why St. Thomas is one of the most popular ports in the Caribbean.

Once a colony of Denmark, St. Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, along with St. John and St. Croix.  The USVI separates the Atlantic from the Caribbean, 40 miles east of Puerto Rico and 1,100 miles southeast of Miami.  This locations is a prime reason that the island has developed into such a thriving port.

Spain, France, Germany and Denmark vied for control of St. Thomas for hundreds of years.  The Danes were the first to realize that St. Thomas' value as a port far exceeded the value of its hilly terrain for plantations.  In 1692, they named the capital city Charlotte Amalie after their queen.  Realizing that they needed to populate this underdeveloped island to profit from it, the Danes brought in settlers.  St. Thomas was declared a duty-free port and did brisk business, with goods being transported from Europe to the colonies.  In 1917, the United States bought the Virgin Islands for $25 million to employ as an outpost guarding the Panama Canal.  Virgin Islanders have all of the rights and privileges of United States citizens.

The beaches in St. Thomas are some of the best in the world because of their calm, clear waters, powdery white sand and coral reefs that can be seen by snorkelers 40 feet from the shore.  All of the best beaches in St. Thomas are within a 3-mile radius of Charlotte Amalie.

North of Charlotte Amalie is Magens Bay Beach, considered one of the top 10 beaches in the world by most travel guides.  Magens Bay offers changing facilities, chairs and snorkeling equipment rentals.  The beach is in a cove between two mountains and is a mile long, making it excellent for walking.  Hull Bay, directly west of Magens Bay, is an excellent spot for surfing during late fall and winter.

Going up to Paradise Point is another popular stop while you are in St Thomas. You can ride a tram up to the top of the mountain to get some incredible views of St Thomas. The trip only takes about 20 minutes and isnt to expenses. You can have time to take a tour in St Thomas, Do some shopping in St Thomas and still go up to paradise point to finish off your day.
